RISO KAGAKU CORPORATION's Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Targets Receive SBTi Validation

The greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets established by RISO KAGAKU CORPORATION have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a global initiative, as science-based targets.

The SBTi is an international initiative that encourages companies to set greenhouse gas emission reduction targets grounded in climate science. It is operated jointly by four organizations: the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and CDP.

Validated Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Targets (Near-Term Targets)

The following reduction targets for FY2030 have been validated as science-based targets consistent with the level of ambition required by the Paris Agreement.

- Scope 1 and Scope 2*1*2 :
42.0% absolute reduction by FY2030 from a FY2024 base year
- Scope 3*3 :
25.0% absolute reduction by FY2030 from a FY2024 base year

*1 Scope 1: Greenhouse gas emissions directly emitted from sources owned or controlled by a company (gasoline, diesel, gaseous fuels, etc.)
*2 Scope 2: Greenhouse gas emissions indirectly emitted from the generation of energy purchased by a company (electricity, etc.)
*3 Scope 3: Indirect greenhouse gas emissions occurring across the value chain, excluding Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions

To advance its response to climate change in line with international standards, RISO KAGAKU CORPORATION is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain. As one concrete measure toward achieving these targets, the Company is advancing initiatives such as installing solar power generation systems at its business sites.

Going forward, the Company will continue to implement greenhouse gas emission reduction measures in line with SBTi criteria, contributing to the realization of a decarbonized society.
