Environmental Label Certified Products

Based on the increasing need for environment-friendly products, RISO has been obtaining environmental labels for its products, while promoting the proactive disclosure of information.

TYPE I :

Awarded by a third party organization who establishes own certification criteria of environmental protective products. Such labels are certified in accordance with these criteria.

TYPE II :

By their own seals or marks, the manufacturers appeal their environmental protective policies, in their marketing of advertising.

TYPE III :

Showing quantitative data in a label which indicates consumable resources and energies, or the load to the environment through the whole life-cycle of the product. The consumer will evaluate the data.

Environmental Label Certified Products

RISO provides products in Japan that comply with the Law on Promoting Green Purchasing, Eco Mark Program and the International Energy Star Program. RISO products sold overseas correspond to the International Energy Star Program, the Taiwan Green Mark Program and the China Environmental Labeling Program [Type II] .

Products that qualify for environmental labels

[Japan] Law on Promoting Green Purchasing-Compliant Products	Specified product procurement items and criteria for products that are compliant with the Law Concerning the Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services by the State and Other Entities (Law on Promoting Green Purchasing) Basic policies related to promoting the procurement of eco-friendly goods for each specified procurement item and criteria used to make determinations are reviewed annually.
[Japan] Eco Mark Products	Products certified by the Japan Environment Association in recognition of their usefulness in preserving the environment by decreasing environmental burden throughout the product lifecycle, from manufacturing to disposal. [International] International ENERGY STAR Program	Involving seven countries and regions worldwide, this is an international program that promotes energy saving in office machines. The program sets standards in terms of the power consumption of office machines in each of the operation, sleep and OFF modes, and it certifies only those machines ranked among the top 25% of all entries. [Taiwan] Green Mark Program	The Taiwan Green Mark Program, which is equivalent to Japan's Eco Mark Program, began in 1992 under the management of the Environment and Development Foundation (EDF), an organization commissioned by Taiwan's Environmental Protection Administration. Designated as a "Type I" environmental label in Taiwan, this program grants certifications as an independent third party.
[USA] EPEAT	EPEAT stands for the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool, which is the definitive global rating system for greener electronics. It ranks products on 51 specific criteria, to help identify greener imaging equipment and other electronics devices. The EPEAT tool is comprehensive, being based on IEEE 1680 International Standards, and the program includes energy efficiency, reduction/elimination of environmentally sensitive substances, take-back programs for equipment, packaging and consumables, and other important environmental attributes.
